HOW TO CREATE GRAZING BOARDS AND PLATTERS
Our new Radford smorgasbord set comprises of an assortment of extra pieces to be used in serving buffet-style boards and in combining and eating delicious morsels.
A ‘smorgasbord’, as a way of describing a jumble of things, derives from the 20th Century, but has its roots in 16th century Sweden, when the brännvinsbord, or schnapps table, was a common starter of spirits and bread, eaten standing up before the main meal. This grew as other food items were added and the smörgåsbord (sandwich table) became the main meal itself in the 17th century. This has other variants such as the extensive julbord, which translates as the Christmas Table – a Scandinavian tradition.
But you don’t need to cover a whole table in food to create a feast of flavour. Building smaller sharing boards is just as much of an art. The perfect grazing board should be just as much a feast for the eyes as the tastebuds; layers of colour, texture and flavour.
